Superintendent's Message
Fall Break is almost here (no school this Friday or this coming Monday)! I hope your family finds a little space to rest and recharge—whether that’s football under the lights, a quiet afternoon, or a much-needed nap.

Our teachers and staff have worked hard this first stretch, and your support at home makes all the difference.

Thank you for partnering with us to put students first every day. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for what’s next.

-Casey

Recognitions
Student Pledge

Destin Hunter, a 6th-grade student at Holloway 6th Grade (H6G) led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.National Merit Students

We celebrated our National Merit Scholarship Program honorees!
Zachary Mitchell was recognized as a Semifinalist, placing him among the top 16,000 students in the nation. We also celebrated Angela Evans and Caroline Weissmann as Commended Students, recognized among the top 50,000 nationally. Congratulations to these Wildcats for their hard work and achievement!

Information Reports (No Action Required)

A. Teacher Highlight:  At Holloway (H6G), Mrs. McFadden (Math) and Mrs. Rogers (Reading) showed how our “Den” period boosts growth. With daily data checks and targeted 30-minute sessions, students get extra help from teachers outside their regular schedule

B. ESL Annual Report
Mr. Tamez, our Coordinator of Federal Programs and Academic Support, shared an update on how our ESL (English as a Second Language) program is supporting a large number of students. This year, 242 students were assessed: 12% Advanced High, 46% Advanced, 33% Intermediate, and 9% Beginning.

C. Dual Credit and Advanced Placement (AP) Update
Dr. Taylor highlighted the opportunities for Whitehouse High School students to earn college credit through Dual Credit and Advanced Placement (AP). Our partnership with East Texas A&M University offers 16 courses totaling 49 credit hours, and our partnership with Tyler Junior College offers 13 courses and 33 credit hours, plus automotive. In addition, WHS offers 19 AP courses on campus.

D. Notice of Intent to Apply - PREP, Cycle 4

E. Notice of Intent to Apply - ECSE, Cycle 2

F. School Funding Update
Clint Ray gave an update on our School Funding Election, with Key points being:
Tax Implication:
  • Passes - The average homeowner would see $246.81 decrease in their school property tax bill.

  • Does Not Pass - The average homeowner would see an estimated $415.82 decrease in their school tax bill compared to last year. The difference is about $169 more in savings than if it passes.

How the $0.04 is Calculated:

Whitehouse ISD’s school property tax rate is $0.9249 per $100 of valuation, which includes $0.05 in temporary disaster relief approved by the state after the 2024 storm damage. That $0.05 expires in 2025.
If the School Funding Election passes, Whitehouse ISD would be able to retain the $0.05 disaster relief and add $0.04, resulting in a $0.9649 per $100 valuation school tax rate, which would yield $2.5 million in additional school funding.
